Memorial Middle School and Wayman Tisdale Fine Arts Academy receive robotics grants

Public Service Company of Oklahoma is awarding robotics grants totaling more than $22,000 to schools across the state. We are excited that Memorial Middle School and Wayman Tisdale Fine Arts Academy are two of the recipients! The FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) robotics grants program is a nationwide initiative that supports pre-kindergarten through 12th grade student education with an emphasis on STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.

Memorial Middle School is grateful to PSO for supporting our Robotics program,” said Dr. Abraham Kamara. Dr. Kamara sponsors the Gateway Technology program at Memorial Middle School. “Robotics Education empowers our students to actively participate; and to design and build a brighter future for all people.”

We are so grateful for this opportunity from PSO,” said Kimberly Thueson, 2nd-grade teacher at Wayman Tisdale Fine Arts Academy. “This will help our students grow. We are focusing on creativity to build and program while using technology. We could not be more appreciative”.

PSO’s parent company, American Electric Power, funds FIRST grants on behalf of its operating companies.

PSO appreciates the critical need for quality, hands-on STEM education,” said PSO’s Tiffini Jackson, vice president, external affairs. “We are glad to help support robotics teams in the areas we serve and are hopeful the experiences will spark a continued interest in STEM fields as students consider their education and career paths.”

Tulsa Public Schools is very grateful for the kind act and support from our community and local partners.
